Along with the rapid development of Chinese economy in the whole world and the living standard of our people in China, the spiritual pursuit keeps growing as well. Since 21 st century, the demand of quality of education is given a high premium. Compare to the traditional one, small-class teaching expresses the law of education much better. And it has been giving a large attention in the processes of the education modernization in many developed areas in China.The field of small-class teaching is rich enough for us to explore. Here we just take a part of it. That is English teaching in Junior High School. And we will make a study on the whole-process English homework management of small classes in Junior High School. Meanwhile, four advanced education theories have been combined with English homework management in Junior High School. They are Multiple Intelligences, Constructivism Theory, Zone of Proximal Development and Small-class Teaching Theory. They provide the theoretical basis for the following research. Next is an all-round research carried out in W Junior High School in Ningbo. It is about all the processes of English homework in three different grades in Junior High School. Through interviews and questionnaire, we can find highlights of what the teachers are doing in processes of English homework within Small-class teaching. For example, the satisfactory amount, difficulty level and the diversified forms of the English homework, together with the teachers’ careful and hard work when checking the homework, but the most impressive one is the individual tutoring of students’ oral English during lunch break by their own teachers. Inevitably, there are some problems coming along with: as a local prestigious school, the content of the homework and appraisement are both inadequately monotonous. Communication between teachers and their students on written homework is also not close to satisfaction, especially for a boarding school. In the end, there are some suggestions and strategies for all the processes of English homework management in Junior High School, including homework design, communication, appraisement and feedback.Due to the author’s limited knowledge and ability, there are inevitably several shortcomings. And I am looking forward for more advice and opinions and willing to have new studies for it.
