Multimedia teaching-learning had been the main teaching style in middle school today. Although there were many researches of multimedia browsing behavior in home and abroad, there were small quantities of the microscopic browsing behavior researches. For the most part, the type of research object was college student, and researches focused on external eye movement characteristics of the subject.Experimental materials were made for middle school students, which selected from the Network of China Science Museums. This study included three experiments using Tobii T120 Eye Tracker, experiment 1—probed students’ browsing behavior of different grades on different multimedia interface structures, experiment 2—probed students’ browsing behavior of different grades on different content rendering paths, experiment 3—probed students’ browsing behavior of different grades on different indicative guide elements. Conclusions are as follows:⑴There were significant differences between middle school students of different grades and different multimedia interface structures. The bright colored pictures were able to attract the attention of middle school students, especially in which there were a small amount of texts.⑵Different content rendering paths showed differences. The browsing behavior of middle school students showed balance on sequence-diagonal content rendering paths, and the order left and right rendering paths show "top-heavy" features.⑶Different indicative guide elements showed differences. The interaction of grade and indicative guide elements on the first entry time showed extremely significant difference. Middle school students liked to browse underscore and arrows region. Finally, the author made suggestions on how teachers and developers made multimedia learning materials, also included suggestions for multimedia teaching.
