Objective: Plantar pressure information of pregnant women during walking can account for the structure studying, function and motion control of feet, and make a reasonable explanation for foot disease. The main objective of this study is to explore the pregnant women’ plantar characteristics and changing rules of gestation including early period, middle period and late period when walking naturally, and discuss the reason to this plantar pressure characteristics. Methods: This study measured 36 pregnant women’ walking plantar pressure in a follow-up tests of all the gestation, including early period, middle period and late period with the volunteer’ mean age 27.31±3.05 years, mean height 1.63±0.08 meter, mean weight 68.23±11.83 kilogram.Germany Novel Pedar-X system was used to obtain testing data. Each subject wore canvas shoes walking 3 times on a length of about 10 meters, width of about 2 meters walking test channel, each rest time was 5 minute, using the test system’ Novel Database essential analysis software to obtain the maximum pressure, walking the peak pressure, contact area, impulse index data, SPSS 17.0 statistical software packages were used for data analysis. Results: With the increasing of pregnancy, pregnant women’s plantar pressure distribution of natural walking showed a significant difference during the same trimesters of left or right foot, especially increased in the lateral metatarsal, middle foot, lateral heel and decreased in the medial metatarsal and medial heel. However, the plantar pressure in the middle of metatarsal region had no obviously alteration during all trimesters. In a word, the plantar pressure transferred to the anterolateral. Conclusions: As period progressing, the plantar pressure of subjects’ walking mainly located in medial metatarsal and lateral heel; the plantar contact area is increasing, with the biggest in lateral heel and middle foot. While walking, the impulse value of medial metatarsal is the biggest; and the impulse of middle foot and lateral heel are increasing with the gestation period progressing. Distance of COP to lateral foot is shorter, the walking pattern from arch to big toe is obviousl...
