The history curriculum standard of the regular senior high school calls for shifting students’ learning methods and paying attention to exploratory learning and the cultivation of students’ history thinking. Under this circumstance, the teaching combining history with material has become an important pattern in history teaching. The use of historical materials in the classroom teaching can not only help inspire students’ thinking, form the ability of exploring and solving problems, master the research methods of theory out of the history and a combination of theory and history,but also help form correct outlook on life values which are beneficial to students. It is due to the history teachers’ insufficient understanding of the concept of historical materials and careless selection of materials, less stress on teaching methods of history teaching that leads to low efficiency of classroom. Students prefer to history rather than history class. It is still a discussable thesis that how to use the historical material in history teaching of high school.In this paper, firstly we define the concept and classification of historical materials from the perspective of history teaching in high school, divide it into the cultural one and intuitive visual image, on whose basis to further describe the necessity of teaching the historical materials teaching and introduce it. There are still many problems in the choice and application of history teacher and text because that our historical materials teaching started later than that of western countries. This mainly shows the teachers’ lacking of understanding the teaching purpose of the historical materials, so teachers focused on all purposely and hadn’t exerted students’ initiative,which made teaching become a mere formality. However, the rate of teaching materials in the use of raw materials and the source of the historical data and graphic appears shortcomings obviously. Therefore, combined the existing problems with the university entrance exam questions, this paper presents five principles of history teaching in high school in order to avoid empty reasons things. Each part should be embodied in the actual teaching in author instance. On the basis of analyzing the instance in detail, the selection of materials should not only be correct, colorful and instructive, but more needs to be combined with the trend changes of college entrance examination proposition.At last, as to the problem of less use of historical materials in the class at present, I should make some complement to the way of historical development.
