As the social levels in Chinese cities develop since 21 st century, the aging of population and its related social problems have gradually become the most highlighted issues for the society. Estimations from social experts have revealed that the population of Chinese aged over 60 years old will exceed 400,000,000 and take up over 22.3% of the world’s elder population. Thus, the material and spiritual life of the elder people has become more and more concerned by all the communities in the society.“Leisure” has become a commonly advocated and pursued life style of urbanite in the present society. Thus, efforts have been made to improve the quality of life and enrich the “leisure” for the elder people by the community. Scientific researchers have discovered that a moderate “leisure” life will benefit not only the physical and spiritual condition of the elder people but also the improvement in harmony of family relation. In the meanwhile, such life style and social circumstance will conduce to improving the problems caused by the change of age structure, reducing the pressure to the society, and maintaining a stable and harmonious condition of society. Therefore, from both personal and social point of view, attentions to the “leisure” life for the elder people are essentially needed from every community of the society.Using the sampling survey method combined with interviews and field researches, we performed an investigation in the types and inadequacies of the “leisure” life for the elder people in Changchun. In our survey, a sample of 100 elder people who live in the urban area of Changchun was introduced; three aspects(the main types, the satisfaction, and the inadequacies) of the “leisure” life were included in the questionnaires. Analyses were then performed on the result of the questionnaires. According to our analyses, the influence on the “leisure” life of the elder people are divided into two aspects, the internal factors and the external factors, where the degree of education, the level of income, the condition of health, the will of the individual, and the grade of family support are classified as the internal factors, the living environment, social concern and policy support are classified as the external factors. Based on our analyses, suggestions are also made in the aspects of individual, family, community, and government to improve the quality of the “leisure” life for the elder people.
