Problem-Based learning(referred to as PBL) is a student-centered teaching method in which teachers who acts as an information provider assist students study by providing them with information, and with delicate design putting the knowledge that students are about to learn in complex real life situations, and then guiding the students with a string of questions to dig out the knowledge embedded in the situations through cooperation and discussion.Due to the special educational conditions of our country, the Entrance Examination to College is frequently highlighted. It is even argued that the elementary education is gradually transforming students into test-machines and slaves of scores. A large quantity of test exercises becomes a necessity for the students. However, with the upcoming of the new curriculum reform, great changes have taken place in teaching new lessons, compared with which, on the other hand, little has been done to the teaching method to review lessons. Most review lessons remain boring brimmed with exercises which cannot help arouse students’ interest. In order to make a breakthrough and innovation in education methods and promote the quality of review lessons. In this thesis, the application of PBL in the teaching practice of review lessons of high chemistry compulsory 1 recitation, during which, the detailed teaching process of the application of PBL in the review lessons on the special subject of aluminum and its compounds are demonstrated. By means of questionnaire survey, interviews and statistical analysis, this dissertation probes into the effect of the implementation of PBL review lessons on students and find out: PBL review lessons promote students’ performance in tests prominently especially in terms of their interest for study, systematization of the way they acquire knowledge and applicability of experience knowledge and so on. PBL is of more advantage compared with traditional ones.
