Research on mathematically disabled students has lasted for many years and the predecessors have achieved fruitful results, but there are still different mathematically disabled students in different locations for different ethnic groups,Research on the causes and countermeasures for mathematically disabled students in minority areas is rare. This paper uses relevant theories, adopts the method of literature review, questionnaire survey, and field visit to collect data and tries to find out the causes and countermeasures for mathematically disabled students in the independent prefecture for ethnic minorities where the author lives by selecting an individual case to carry out conversion research. The paper discusses the significance and purpose of studying mathematically disabled students in independent prefectures for minorities from the perspective of ethnic unity, social progress, and economic development. The causes are divided into objective and subjective ones. The subjective causes are from students themselves while objective causes include such factors as family, social environment and teacher. When family causes the students’ difficulty in mathematics study, the paper mainly discusses whether the family is harmonious and complete, whether the family has any financial difficulties and whether their parents have such awareness; when social environment is the cause, the paper mainly discusses the social ethos and teaching environment; when teacher is the cause, the paper mainly studies the ethics, attitude and level of the teacher; most importantly, when the cause is the student oneself, weak foundation, lack of good study habits, failure to master study methods and problemsolving techniques are all factors from students themselves that constitute the difficulties for them to study mathematics The above causes from the analysis are obtained from the questionnaire survey and interview conducted by the author on classes with a lot of mathematically disabled students. Altogether 200 questionnaires were given out and 196 questionnaires collected back; 21 parents were visited or telephoned and 10 mathematics teachers were interviewed. Through these field surveys, it is found that the causes of mathematically disabled students are related to family, students and teachers. The paper has put forward countermeasures based on analyzing the causes of mathematically disable students and selected representative individual case for research. The successful conversion cases show that these conversion strategies are basically effective and these causes of mathematically disabled students basically exist. However, these views and countermeasures are just shallow opinions by the author and long-time research should be conducted on the conversion of mathematically disabled students. The paper tries to find out the causes for mathematically disabled students at independent prefectures for minorities in different periods and formulates feasible and effective conversion strategies targeting different types of mathematically disabled students.
