Teenagers with Physical disabilities are inconvenient in living their lives from our common perspectives and the disables have been a distinguishing factor leading to their lagged psychological development. Many services are served from all walks of lives in our society to solve disabled teenagers’ problems and it’s aimed to help this group get rehabilitation with medical source. The relevant studies about this topic in China shows that the society pays more attention to their medical rehabilitation than social rehabilitation. Based on reliable data, this study found that social rehabilitation is in severe needs than medical rehabilitation among this group. For their demands got answered, this study tries to intervene disabled teenagers with group work working methods of social work profession and help them build self-identity. This study is based on the available resources from the Disable Association in HX district, G city, through giving out SIS testing forms to 69 disabled teenagers, combined their feedback questionnaires with some certain objective standards, 8 of 69 are chosen as the members of this self--identity group. After detailed evaluations about this 8 group members we can know that they are desperate in living lives and they refuse to connect with other people. They have no goals in lives. Under the direction of cognitive behavior theory and Cooley’s theory, the group named ‘I can control my life’tries to help members strengthen their confidence、learning to adapt to social life and help them back to the common trail. According to the previous listed perspectives, we design relevant games to help them. After the group work, through the evaluation method we can know the effects of this group work have brought to them. The results show that some of them get improved in self-confidence 、 interpersonal communication skills and their living conditions. So group work working method can offer some suggestive opinions to help disabled teenagers build self-identity. And in the meanwhile, there exists deficiencies we should focus. Firstly is the accurate needs evaluation about group members. Secondly is that the social worker working for this group should have solid theory roots and the ability to connect these theories with actual practices. Last but not least is that for the intervening effects are more effective we should use case work working method and community working method in the meanwhile. As a whole, this thesis tries to offer some suggestive and innovative suggestions to social work practice field and do some contributions to the localization and development of social work profession.
