With the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese punctuation as an important part of the written writing, should be also paid attention in the teaching. Taking the midterm and final students’ examination papers of Chongqing University International College as the research object in this thesis and according to different Chinese levels and learning purposes of the international students, here,the author classifies the cases of punctuation and analysis the errors in their writing,and then concludes the basic types of punctuation errors of theirs and trying to get the basic teaching strategies of punctuation teaching.This thesis uses writing corpus, questionnaires and statistical analysis to collect object material: collects the writing corpus of international students to count the use of punctuation, distributes 67 questionnaires to international students to collect the situation of their learning punctuation, and interviews 12 teachers who teach foreigners Chinese to learn the situation of punctuation teaching. Finally uses Excel to analyze those statistics. Here is the analyzing results:1)punctuation errors exist in all levels of students. 2) the first level students incline to use single type of Chinese punctuation, high errors rate in comma and full stop. 3) the middle level students are able to use more types of punctuation, high errors rates in comma and question mark. 4) the high level students are able to use all kinds of punctuation with less errors. 5) the statistics show that the higher level students are able to use more types of punctuation with lower error rates than the lower ones, and the nationality also has influence on it. Besides, the situation of students’ learning attitude and method, their motivation and objects to learn Chinese, their interpretation in teaching material, as well as the teacher’s teaching can influence the punctuation learning of students. At last, this thesis puts forward specific strategies for punctuation teaching based on the statistics illustrated above and the actual teaching situation.
