Punctuation marks are symbols that assists the characters in a language,and it's also an integral part of the written language.It's used to indicate pauses,tones,and the nature and function of words.Punctuation marks are an important method to express thoughts and deliver information correctly,and using them correctly plays a positive role in expressing the meaning of a context,improving efficiency,and promoting language standardization.Punctuation marks are not only an organic ingredient of written language but also a constituent part of Chinese language teaching.In the “phasic target ”,?Curriculum Standards for Chinese Teaching? has made some demands for teaching punctuation.But in my teaching experience,I find that there are many grave mistakes made by the elementary students,such as forgetting or misusing the punctuation marks.In view of the common phenomena,I did some documents research and found that there is very little research about misusing punctuation marks.They did not research the phenomena or reasons of misusing punctuation marks thoroughly and deeply,and not any countermeasures were provided at all.For the above reasons,this essay did the following researches:First of all,it summarizes the literature for the study of punctuation marks and defines the research direction.Secondly,this essay describes the phenomena of students' misusing punctuation marks.Furthermore,it carries on a detailed analysis of the reasons for punctuation marks mistakes made by students.At last,this essay also suggests some corresponding teaching countermeasures.The study of misusing punctuation marks is a complicated process.Based on observations and studies,this paper collects and assorts the phenomena of students' punctuation misusing,sums them up as “misusing the punctuation marks”,“missing punctuation marks”and “adding extra punctuation marks”,and elaborates the typical mistakes for using punctuation.By presenting facts,thisessay makes a furthermore analysis of the reasons for misusing punctuation marks.For example,students' bad writing habits and writing attitude,students' limited knowledge of how to use punctuation marks,teachers not paying attention to punctuation teaching,improper teaching methods,textbook editing problems and social environment are all responsible for punctuation marks mistakes.Aiming at the above reasons,the essay has put forward to three strategies of avoid misusing punctuation marks,that is,to cultivate students 'habits of using punctuation marks correctly,to make teachers pay more attention to punctuation teaching and to improve students' learning environment as well as the textbooks.
