The new curriculum reform puts forward clearly that students should solve practical problems through modeling. The main study object of currently researches on middle school mathematics is about the modeling teaching of high School mathematics. And in China, articles study on mathematical modeling teaching of junior high school account for less than 1% in relevant articles of primary and secondary education. Due to the lack of effective teaching methods and learning methods, the teaching of mathematical modeling is still in the immature stage So that study on teaching strategies of mathematical modeling in junior high school is important.The paper describes the ideological content of mathematical modeling、the general steps of modeling teaching and the design principles. Through the survey of 93 students in Tsing Hua secondary School and Yantai Fifth school, investigate the modeling capabilities and the current implementation situation of teachers’ mathematical modeling with the designed questionnaire survey and questions tests. According to the survey data, the paper analyzes the problems and shortcomings. And then analyze the reasons for that.According to the practical problem that exists in the teaching and learning of mathematical modeling, proposes the following strategies:(1)From simple to difficult、step by step and build confidence;(2)Seize the key、 look for key and transform the problem.(3)Classify the model and grasp the modeling direction;(4)Teachers should continue to increase the storage of knowledge and understand the ideological content of modeling in depth;(5)Guide students to “learn from doing”;(6)Change evaluation methods of the student, and transform the single evaluation of the results into the evaluation that focus on students’ thinking process.According to the proposed teaching strategies, choose typical teaching links to make teaching design and implement the mathematical modeling teaching strategies with pertinence. Through analysis of the survey afterschool finds that the teaching design has achieved good teaching effect which provides useful reference and examples for the majority of teachers to make modeling teaching.
