| Mind mapping is a visual tool for cognition and also a kind of "map" be applied to memory, learning, thinking. Mind mapping as an effective graphic thinking tool in expressing divergent thinking, is considered to be the golden key to unlock the unlimited potential of the brain. Mind Mapping is widely used in different fields all over the world. However, the research of Mind Mapping in our country especially on the application to senior English words teaching still needs further improvement. Therefore, this thesis based on the relevant theories of mind mapping, aims to explore an effective method of learning English words which is suitable for senior high school students.This thesis made an experiment from September 15 th to December 15 th in 2014 in two parallel classes from Guanghan No.6 Middle School in Sichuan Province. The research has tested whether the mind mapping can help high school students’ English vocabulary memory, and whether a mind mapping can improve the students’ interest in learning English and autonomous learning ability. The purpose of the research is to test whether the mind mapping can help English vocabulary teaching of Book one. The research involves several research methods, including questionnaires, tests and interviews. The questionnaire which was attached before and after the experiment, English vocabulary dictation tests, and the interview were carried out to know whether mind mapping can improve the English words memory and the correct rate of words spelling or not. All the data is analyzed by using SPSS17.0The results of the research are as follows: 1. Mind Mapping is useful in English vocabulary teaching. 2.
