How to improve training quality of the secondary vocational students is the core problem of today’s secondary vocational education sector. The key point of the secondary vocational student’s quality is their professional capacity. Therefore, trainning vocational students’ professional competence is a core task of teaching in secondary vocational schools, and in what ways to achieve this goal, no other way, only practice, teaching method is just practical teaching mode. Although the current secondary vocational teaching recognized the importance of cultivating the students’ professional competence, there is always this or that problem in the implementation of specific teaching, resulting in the cultivated students hard to adapt to the times and the needs of society.This paper first studies the concept, the characteristic and function of secondary vocational practical teaching pattern. Secondary vocational practical teaching pattern is a teaching scheme that string all the teaching factors together under the practical guidelines. It has characteristics such as integrity, work-integrated learning and situational workplace. What’s more, it has practical and theoretical function.Secondly, through investigation and research, the paper analyzes the present situation of the practical teaching mode in secondary vocational school, and points out the problems and reasons of the students in the practice teaching mode. Through investigation, the author found the main problems are: the backward of practical teaching guiding ideology, the lack of practical teaching plan design, the construction of training bases can not meet the needs, and the serious lack of "double type" teachers, etc.To solve these problems, on the basis of the practical teaching mode at home and abroad for reference, combining the exploration of mold design and manufacture department in Yiyang first vocational high school, this paper tries to build vocational spiral practical teaching mode with local school characteristics. The model in order to improve professional competence lays constructivism, situated learning theory, multiple intelligence theory for the foundation, by verifying the cognitive training, achieve mastery through a comprehensive training, explore innovative training three spiral progressive training links to cultivate students comprehensive quality from theory to practice, from simple skills to comprehensive skills, from the basic ability to the quality of comprehensive vocational ability; And combined with the current problems, explore the operation of the targeted strategy, to build the implementation of security conditions.
