With the extensive development of ’Quality Education’ and the deepening educational reform, the public is gradually focusing on the music education in primary schools. In recent years, China’s educational reform and development of music education in primary school have made remarkable achievements. And then, the public started to realize that, as a core component of "Quality education", music education in primary schools has a negligible effect. Qiaokou distract in Wuhan city actively promoted the "New Standard of Education" and increasingly paid more attention on the music education in primary schools. The music education in Qiaokou district’s primary schools appeared prosperity. However, after the in-depth investigation, the author found that the true situation is not optimistic. Taking Wu Han City Dong Fang Hong Di Er Primary School as an example, this paper used the same class of heterogeneous analysis,questionnaires, interviews, statistics and comparative analysis, made a in-depth investigation on the status of music education in this primary schools, and found that there are some questions shall not be ignored.This paper is mainly focused on the contemporary situation of the music education in Wu Han City Dong Fang Hong Di Er Primary School. This paper discussed the topic into four parts. The first part is to describe the research background, the significance and meaning of the research and the literature review. The second part is a summary of the status of music education in Wuhan City and Dong Fang Hong Di Er Primary School. The third part is a field research on music education in primary schools, after the author taught and evaluated the music classes; interviewed the school leaders and teachers and sent questionnaires in Dong Fang Hong Di Er Primary School, this paper discussed the situation of the school’s music teacher, music teaching facilities, music lessons, the music extracurricular activities and student music literacy survey analysis. Based on the field research and analysis, the fourth part is the author’s suggestions and advises, hoping to effectively promote Dong Fang Hong Di Er Primary School music education’s development in a healthy and positive way.
