In background that the Chinese athletes rush out Asia and move towards the world, athletes have become an integral part of China’s soft power. In 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Chinese athletes show the world the power of China with 51 gold MEDALS. However, as more and more people join in the sports career and the problem of professional athletes disable security is increasingly becoming a topic that we cannot ignore.In July 1998, the event that Sang Lan injured in The US Goodwill Games hold in New York made professional athlete disability insurance entered the public opinion and policy makers view. The affair that Sang Lan obtained the huge insurance compensation aroused the concern and reflection of the Chinese sport even policymakers once again. And that event not only makes people aware of the importance of the professional athletes disability insurance, but also let policymakers think developing road of professional athlete disability insurance more in-depth under the conditions of China.In September the same year, the Chinese sports foundation insured the disability insurance for the national team players in the China life insurance company, which opened the prelude of China’s professional athletes disability insurance from now on. On September 28,2009,the excellent athletes disability insurance system started became an important part of the excellent athletes disability insurance. Excellent players Disability insurance and social security for professional athletes make a basic development of professional athletes disable security in our country. At the same time, business professional athlete disability insurance also began to bud stage.As disability events and miserable condition of life of athletes were exposed by the media, professional athlete disability insurance began to concern in the public opinion again. The public and the policy makers began to rethink about the present situation of professional athletes disability insurance. And the future for China’s professional athletes became the hot topic.Therefore, academic circles gradually began to make a study of professional athlete disability insurance on the basis of the successful experience in foreign advanced countries on professional athlete disability insurance and combined with China’s specific national conditions of China to advice the development of China’s professional athletes disability insurance.When Sports achievement has made a great progress in China, the problem of the athlete who made a significant contribution to China’s sports industry and those who silently fight for the Chinese sports career is worthy of our attention and exploring the development direction of it.
