As the Data Time is coming, the information which people have to get is becoming more and more. So the reading ability becomes a main criterion of judging whether a man is part of modern society. Besides, people need express what they have got in daily life by using writing form. As a result, the ability of writing is a key factor of communication. In China, Senior High is an important period of developing the abilities of reading and writing. So this research aims to improve both of the abilities by using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition.Based on the fact that China advocates the group cooperation learning and the English reading and writing level of the class needed to be improved, this research chose the CIRC as a teaching way to increase the reading and writing ability in Senior High. The Action Research was adopted when the researcher considered the method and the design. The whole research lasted 9 months which was divided into 3 turns. The data of this research included questionnaires, interviews and test scores. By analyzing these data, it shows that CIRC can arouse the reading motivation of students, enlarge their quantity of reading, apply the reading skills learned in class to other reading materials, and write properly.The research is useful for those who want to improve the students’ reading and writing ability in teaching. The researcher hopes it works for those who would like to study more.
