Western modern architecture movement began to rise in the 1920s, and the Chinese modern architectural education system was also established during this period. Influenced by various historical factors, although the "academic" architectural education pattern has occupied the dominant position for a long time in China, the education thought, in which modernist architecture acted as the core, has never stopped the pace of progress. After decades of ups and downs and brewing, it finally broke out as a swell in the late 1970s.The architectural education of Kunming University of Science and Technology began in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The evolution of its education thought has experienced three stages, in which " the Theory of Practical Art", "the Theory of Space System" and "the Theory of Human Settlement " respectively acted as the core. The three kinds of architectural education thought are not independent. In fact, they have both temporal longitudinal connections and spacial symbiotic relationships. Before discussing the architectural education thought of Kunming University of Science and Technology, the thesis separately compares and analyzes the typical representatives of all three kinds of architectural education thoughts, so as to provide strong theoretical basises for the major views of the thesis.During the 30 years’development process, the architectural education of Kunming University of Science and Technology has made a series of gratifying achievements in aspects of discipline construction and teaching system, realizing a smooth and rapid development. However, there are still some problems in architecture major. Against these problems, the thesis puts forward some possible solutions to provide lessons and references for the future development of architecture major of Kunming University of Science and Technology. As a periodical research achievement, the thesis is expected to lead more related research work in the future.
