Study On Appreciation Education In Junior Middle School English Teaching In Rural Areas

Appreciation Education is a kind of education respectful to the law of life, which is full of love, human kindness and vitality. According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, we human’s needs are divided into five categories, among which the desire for appreciation, respect, understanding, and love is a higher need. The core of Appreciation Education lies on finding and focusing on students’strengthens, so that their inner potential will burst. With more and more educators applying Appreciation Education in their teaching, the research on its theories and applications have never stopped. Combined with the actual situation of rural junior middle school English education, this thesis intends to explore the necessity and feasibility of applying Appreciation Education in rural junior middle school. This study mainly addresses the following questions.1)What principles should we follow in implementing Appreciation Education?2)How to implement Appreciation Education in rural junior middle school English teaching?3)Whether the application of Appreciation Education in rural junior high school is meaningful?The paper was divided into five parts.In 2001, the Ministry of Education proposed the three-dimensional goal which tells us in teaching process, we should achieve three goals:knowledge and skills, process and methods, emotional attitudes and values. These are three aspects of a goal, it can’t be divided. The Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards" (2011 Edition), issued by Ministry of Education, wrote that English curriculum at the stage of compulsory education, has the dual nature of instrumental and humanistic. Attention should not only be put on students’knowledge and skills, but also be placed on the development of students’emotional attitudes and values. Emotional education isn’t only about students learning interest and learning responsibility, what’s more important is to ask the students to have a positive attitude towards life. It’s values emphasize the unity of individual value and social value. Everyone needs to be recognized and appreciated, especially for the rural junior high school students. The psychological development of rural junior high school students and the nature of English education require teachers to appreciate and encourage students. Through the sincere love, students will be more confident in learning, and their inner potential will be inspired. This study intends to investigate and analyze the status of Appreciation Education in junior high school English teaching from the perspective of pedagogy and psychology, and then discuss the necessity and importance of the implementation of Appreciation Education in junior high school English teaching.In this study, we used the method of literature review, questionnaire and teaching record. By studying literature materials, the principles and strategies of how to apply Appreciation Education were determined. Taking the students of Yunxi school as the research object, the questionnaire survey and teaching record were carried out.The study found that Appreciation Education give the main position of study back, to students. It arouses students’ interest in English learning, and let students experience the joy of success. Students need teacher’s appreciation and encouragement, at the same time, teachers should seize every opportunity to appreciate and appreciate in time. While appreciating different students, the teachers should see the differences between them and combine other forms of education reasonably. In order to apply Appreciation Education into English classes, teachers should establish a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, under this circumstance, students will be able to think and express themselves. Meanwhile, teachers should set up different teaching situations, and make a scientific evaluation to students to enhance their self-confidence. After a semester of Appreciation Education, the author found that the students overall has made great progress, the excellent rate has improved, while low rate has decreased significantly, the students’ potential has been motivated.The results of this research shows that Appreciation Education is a kind of education which is totally different from the existing examination oriented education. It takes students’ comprehensive development as the goal, encourages students and understands students. It plays a positive role in English teaching in rural areas. Appreciation Education and other educational model is not on the contrary, they supplement each other. Teachers should combine them reasonably. At the same time, the author finds that there are many limitations in the implementation of Appreciation Education in rural schools, the number of students is too large, which has brought a lot of inconvenience for the applying of the Appreciation Education. Appreciation Education requires a great deal of teacher’s energy. It needs teachers to keep on observing, appreciating students and mastering the change of students in time.
