Whether the relationship between the teachers and students (TSR) is harmonious influences the teaching effect directly. Only positive TSR can make the teaching go on smoothly; meanwhile it can also improve students’test scores and does good to students’ physical and psychological development.Under the pressure of the college entrance examination, the teaching aim of suburb high schools is still to raise students’ test scores, though education reform of our country has been advocating quality-oriented education to alleviate the burden on students. Many English teachers are accustomed to evaluating students by test scores, but neglect the cultivation of emotional education. Teachers have been playing the central role, while students fall into a passive position and will not learn positively. The students in suburb high school come from both rural and urban areas, so they differ in many respects, such as family conditions, personal qualities, behavioral habits and English foundation, which increases the difficulty in English teaching. As it is a boarding school, students can only communicate with their teachers apart from their classmates. That is why the freshmen will rely on teachers’ love and care a lot. But most English teachers are always instilling text knowledge mechanically regardless of students’ transition of learning and psychology. Forced to accept the pressure of the national college entrance examination, the freshmen will easily fall into bad habits and reject learning and even become antagonistic to English teachers, which does harm to English teaching. So how can English teachers build positive relationship with freshmen needs to be figured out.This thesis can be generally divided into eight parts:1) the present research status of TSR,2) the theory of inter-subjectivity,3) a review on the present relationship between English teachers and freshmen in suburb high school,4) an analysis of the factors that influence the relationship between English teachers and freshmen in suburb high school, 5) explanation of the teaching experiment,6) the analysis of the teaching experiment result,7) the strategies of how the English teachers build positive relationship with freshmen in suburb high school,8) conclusion.Based on the research of the freshmen’s learning ability and present learning situation and the teachers’ current working status in suburb high school as well as their relationship, the author tries to find out the elements that influence the TSR; by the study of inter-subjectivity and the analysis of the teaching experimental result, the author tries to find out the strategies of having harmonious TSR with freshmen. This paper plays an instructive role in English teaching and how to get along with freshmen in senior high school.
