Hurdle Race is a main event in track and field competition in the world today. It has high requirements for athlete’s physical quality beca use of the technicality and complexity. The athletes need to across the hurd le constantly to minimize loss of speed in the high-speed running. Besides, the coordination between body and the m ovement from the swinging leg to cross leg and between each m uscle group of the body will m ake the technology of athletes more smooth and simple. The improvement of technology in all aspects can get a better sport performance, as well as the develo pment of physical quality(speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, agility). Liu Xiang’s achievem ent in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games let people pay high attention on H urdle Race and give gr eat confidence to domestic sprint and hurdle athletes. Afterwards, a group of outstanding dom estic sprint and hurdle athletes achieved great results gradually in international track and field competitions with the representative of Liu Xiang. The Hurdle Race started to become more and more important in the training of municipal and provincial training team. In recent years, as the most popular research subject, core training has achieved good results in enhancing training perform ance, improving movement technology, and preventing athletic injury. Therefore, this study will combine the Core Strength Training and Hurdle Race techn ical features to supply and develop the special strength training of Hurdle Race, and create new ideas for im proving training effect, mastering the te chnical essentials, and s timulating the training initiative of the amateur athletes.Through the m ethod of docum ent and m aterial, expert consultation, video analysis, mathematical statistics, and experim ent, this study selected 16 m ale hurdle athletes of the First Amateurish Sports School in Xingtai, He bei province, and random ly divided them into experimental and control group for a 8-weeks e xperiment. Before the experim ent, the study selected 8 test ta rgets which are a ssociated with Hurdle Race by consulting ex perts and reviewing document and material. These targets include the score of five hurdles, eight Belly Bridge, standing triple jump, cross-leg lifting by hurdle side in 20 s, lay on back and up head and feet in 20 s, push-ups with controlling of body, lunge in straight, twist stability. During the experiment, the experimental group was trained by Core Stre ngth Training, while the control group was trained by traditional strength training. After the experiment the test indicators and parameters of hurdle technology will be compared horizontally between the groups and longitudinally within the group. And then, after statistics and comparative analysis of the data, the following conclusions can be reached:1,Analyzing the video of hur dle technology tests of two gr oups. It suggested that the athletes of experimental group have better performance than the control group in many fields: the kicking of cross leg from the attack before across the hurdle, the attacking distance before across the hurdle, amplitude of trunk forwards, quickly folded pendulum of the swinging leg; the quickly cut action of swinging leg and cross leg in the process of crossing the hurdle, the coordination and stability between leg and trun k, the level of forward speed, the center of gravity height of the r ipples; the initiativ e crossing movement of the swinging leg after crossing the hurdle, quickly pulling in place th e cross legs, and other technical a spects of Hurdle. These all can indicate that Core Str ength Training have a positive impact in improving technology in every hurdle stages.2,The technology of all hurdle stages of the athletes in the experimental group has been significantly improved after the Core Strength Training, in order that the ath letes in experimental group are better than the control group members in hurdle technology evaluation and full perform ance assessment. The resu lts show that the Core Strength Training has significant effect to improve Hurdle technology.3,Compared to m ethods and m eans of tradit ional strength training, Core Strength Training has richer and innovativ e content and diversified traini ng forms. These factors also stimulate the curiosity and training enthusiasm of athletes. At the same time, the combination of Core Strength Training and hur dles features can de epen the understanding of technical movements to the athletes.
