Today’s society increasingly serious trend of population aging, but along with the aging population comes, there are dramatic changes in the social structure, an increase in dual-career families, smaller families and enhance the core trend, and with the improvement of medical conditions, the population is expected to life expectancy is getting longer and longer. The elderly population increases with age, the gradual degradation of bodily functions, accompanied by a wide range of long-term care needs, but our traditional family care capacity is limited because of various factors,weakening the function of long-term care home for socialization model of care proposed requirements. In recent years, the government introduced a number of long-term care for the elderly with the relevant provisions, but these provisions are scattered and vague, difficult to meet the growing elderly population and their families long-term care needs.Long-term care is primarily a combination of multiple services, provide health care for the elderly population, re-key, support and maintenance of care, life care is mainly based care, supplemented by medical care, long-term nature of the characteristics and continuity the goal is to help older people maintain or promote the function of their independent living. Long-term care system, depending on the resources of the unit to distinguish, can be divided into home-style long-term care,community-based long-term care and long-term care institutions three types of formula. Of long-term care social work in mainland China dispersed communities,pension institutions, medical systems and civil systems, on the whole, this type scattered and fragmented model of care and professionalism of the lack of systematic,widespread structural imbalances and the problem of poor quality, can not meet the long-term care needs of the elderly.Taiwan as early as the 20 th century began the construction of the elderly long-term care model, in recent years, but their development from the original, to each of the system of mutual integration, formed a cooperation and integration between departments. Long-term care service content, residues from the original type supplement, scattered and fragmentary style service model, service model has gradually developed into welfare, diversity and continuity. In the long-term care system in Taiwan, the social worker has played an irreplaceable role. Social workers themselves due to their professional features, has been committed to the well-being of vulnerable groups in society, promote social equity, so it is in the long-term care system to provide direct services, or those who need to advocate the interests of the plays irreplaceable role. Through analysis of interviews with three working in Taiwan,long-term care social workers, social workers from the three daily work on specific content and personal experience narrative, social workers learned in long-term care institutions undertake the required work is very complex, including check-assessment,case management, events, links, social welfare resources and referrals, and so on. In the process of completion of the work of the evaluators were playing, referral,coordinator, enabler, consulting, service planners and other roles. Through the analysis of these roles can help to mainland China is still in the construction of long-term care system exploration period provided for reference and inspiration. Also help mainland China is in the early stages of the industry to find a professional social direction.
