The Long-term Education Reform and Development Plan(2010-2020) issued in 2010 made it clear that we should explore development mode of the comprehensive high school. Although we explored the comprehensive high school in the early 1920 s, the number of comprehensive high school in our country is no more than 500 at present. However, the England which had a similar education tradition and explored the comprehensive high school at the same time has quickly made it become the main institution of high school education,standing. The researcher believes that the curriculum offerings is the key point to make its comprehensive high school successful. In this paper, researcher makes an in-depth analysis and research on the development, curriculum offerings and main supporting measures of England comprehensive high school to make recommendations for exploring comprehensive high school in China through literature method, comparative research and case study.This study firstly makes a brief introduction of the comprehensive high school in England and combs its development course, finding out that the rapidly development of comprehensive high school in England is closely related to increase of the school-age children and economic development, disruption of the theory of separated track system, pursuit of equal opportunity in education and social integration and the push of the England Labor.Secondly, the researcher makes a study on lots of primary curriculum documents collected and concludes that the comprehensive high school curriculum offerings from different perspectives has the following characteristics: to stress the curriculum autonomy of school and schooling characteristics within the framework of the common, to make the elective courses abundant and be in order to ensure the course balance and autonomy in selecting, to make the professional and general course certificates equivalent and be in common use to make student freely transit between vocational and general tracks and develop according to their talents.Thirdly, the researcher studies the main supporting measures to ensure its course run successfully and founds England takes three measures from country to school level: providing a common curriculum for all students, establishing a equivalent certificate evaluation system which has common use in some degree, and offering a variety of suitable ways of counseling for all students.Finally, the researcher suggests that government should leads the comprehensive high school reform and unifies the management, local governments and schools should make comprehensive school reform plan and push it from up to down, the country and other institutes should perfect evaluation system and offer more opportunities to study further, schools should adopt multiple and suitable ways of counseling for students and different schools should cooperate together to share more resources based on the previous study of the England comprehensive high school curriculum and so on, comparing with the practice of high school education in our country.
