New edition of course emphasizes the student’s understanding to knowledge. Understanding is the important step that students master the basic knowledge, and also the important basis for developing ability. Because students grasp the essence of knowledge, they can understand knowledge deeply and applicate them flexibility. Their thinking quality can be developed. There are many teaching method to promote students’ understanding. concept mapping as a visual knowledge tool can effectively applied in the classroom to support the students’ knowledge understanding ability.This paper mainly discuss how to support students’ understanding of knowledge taking advantage of concept mapping. The constructivism theories of learning is the research foundation of this research.This paper used the method of literature research and classroom observation and the method of case analysis. this paper studies the mechanism of students understand the knowledge and the support function that concept mapping help students to understand knowledge, and puts forward the teaching strategy about concept mapping.Seven chapters in this paper discuss the support function the support function that concept mapping help students to understand knowledge. The first part through the literature review, discussed the research status of understanding the knowledge and concept mapping both at home and abroad; The second part put forward the definition of students’ understanding and concept mapping. students’ understanding to knowledge is not only a cognitive activities of cognition and memory, also a mean creation of mastering the scientific knowledge. Through dialoguing with the teaching text and others, students form the interpretation of the value and significance.Concept map is a kind of visual kill what Novak invented.It contains the three basic elements——node, Wired and conjunction,uses the hierarchical structure. In this paper, the concept map contains more structures for example linear structure, system structure. The third part mainly analyzes the level and mechanism of students’ understand and talks about the inner relation of concept map. In the process of understanding knowledge, the preconception is the prerequisite, cognitive conflict is the power of students’ knowledge understanding, knowledge construction is a key to promote students understand, transference is an important bottleneck. The fourth part analyzes that the concept mapping support students to understand knowledge.Construct a concept map can activate students’ preconception and cause the students’ cognitive conflict, promote the students to construct the knowledge, and help the students in the process of empathy experience. The fifth part discusses the construction strategy of concept map, including the selection of content, the types of tasks, the selection of organization form of strategy. Part 6 and 7 talk about the teaching strategy of concept map that supporting students’ understanding. The teaching strategy can be applicated to school. The feedback of science curriculum’ teaching practice indicate the concept mapping can deep the understanding of knowledge.
