| I am grateful to have the opportunity to teach Mandarin in New Zealand for ten months as a volunteer teacher. During the teaching process, I have noticed some shortcomings in primary and intermediate school Mandarin language teaching in Whakatane district. On the basis of the research experience from previous researchers, classroom teaching practice, survey analysis, interview and comparative analysis are mainly used in writing. By applying the above methods as well as carrying out comparative analysis towards the language teaching modes of three schools in Whakatane and conducting systematic analysis of the realistic problems, specific teaching suggestions are proposed in the thesis.The thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter one, introduction, which includes topic selection origin, significance, study range, research method and research review of Mandarin language teaching in New Zealand.Chapter two, research on primary and intermediate school Mandarin language teaching in Whakatane. In this chapter, the general summary towards primary and intermediate Mandarin language teaching situation in Whakatane will be mentioned. At the same time, the comparative analysis of the three schools in Whakatane will be carried out in this chapter, which will be illustrated from three aspects, namely, similarity, difference and comparison with nearby area.Chapter three, problems of Mandarin language teaching in Whakatane. At first, analysis on students’ learning purpose will be analyzed though questionnaire research; second, conclusion will be made towards teacher resources storage, lesson arrangement, teaching resources and so on by research methods, such as interview and field survey.Chapter four, teaching suggestion and developing prospect of Mandarin language teaching in Whakatane district. Combining with the problems of Mandarin teaching in Whakatane, teaching suggestions will be come up with from four perspectives, they are learning purpose, teacher resources storage, lesson arrangement and teaching resources respectively. From three angles, which refer to society, school and teacher, the research believes the future Mandarin language teaching in Whakatane is rather prospective.Chapter five, conclusion. |
