With the upsurge of Chinese all over the world,the number of peoplelearning Chinese is increasing. Learning Chinese as a second/foreignlanguage has expanded from home to abroad. Language learning contextplays an important role in foreign language teaching and learning.Learning Chinese in the target language environment and in the non targetlanguage environment have many differences.This paper, based on the full understanding of the situation school’sChinese education in New Zealand and domestic international secondaryschool’s Chinese Education, takes two middle-schools in Auckland andShanghai as examples, from which the data in the study was collected. Onthe basis of language context related theories, and the experience of a yearand half of the personal teaching in New Zealand, the study was conductedby comparing learning contexts in the two schools. The questionnaire wasanalyzed by using SPSS. The results present the differences between thetwo language learning contexts. Suggestions were offered for teachersteaching Chinese in target and non-target language contexts. Through thecomparative study of related information and analysis questionnairesurvey data.Using SPSS’s descriptive statistics and independent samplesT-test analysis of the data.Reaching conclusion by comparison and analysisof two kinds of Chinese learning contexts in all aspects of thedifferent.Offering suggestions for teachers of teaching in different Chinese learning contexts.
