In the social progress, people increasingly attach importance to education, so in education not only should we attach importance to the education of knowledge of theory, but also pay attention to strengthen college students’ psychological education. Only when students stay positive in mental health, can they make better contributions to social development as while as promoting further development of our country. As early as in 2010, our government has issued a "2010-2020 national medium and long-term program for education reform and development”, pointing out that we should pay more attention to the psychological health education in the future so as to improve students’ psychological compressive strength and to achieve the all-round development of students.The accelerating process of reform and opening up policy brings a rapid growth of our economy. the current market economy system is increasingly improved, the market is more active, all these can give students platform, but also brings more pressures to college students. In the current society, in order to get an ideal job, the student not only need high level of professional quality, but also need to have comprehensive qualities, such as the ability to deal with the relationships with the people around you, which requires good psychological quality to alleviate the psychological pressure. Then can they be fully integrated into the market, have good performance and self-realization. And according to statistics, the psychological quality of our college students is poor, they cannot deal with a series of problems with their own efforts, which seriously hinder their further development. One reason is that the level of mental health education in our country has not been improved, so we can’t provide professional psychological counseling timely to our students, so that we cannot solve their problem as possible as we can. Although we are deepening of the psychological health education in our country, our level is still cannot be compared with developed countries in this aspect. The author will make comparison between American and Chinese college students in the aspect of mental health educational level, and discusses from the following several parts: firstly, to compare with our mental health education development progress with American students in the view of our social realities. Through the comparative analysis, the results showed that the development of Chinese college students’ psychological health education started late, development is full of twists and turns, and still have gaps with the United States, even though with a more rapid development in recent year; Secondly, the analysis of the real differences of college students’ psychological health education between China and the United States. We can conclude that there are great differences between the two countries in terms of education concept, content, mode and means, teaching staff, service range, and curriculum assessment. We should learn the advanced theoretical and practical achievements of the United States. Thirdly, through the analysis of psychological health education of China and the United States according to the status quo of the two countries, the author points out while learning the advanced education experience, we should also focus on China’s national conditions and should achieve the good and reject the bad advices; Finally, draw lessons from the successful experience of college students’ mental health education in the United States, the author puts forward some pragmatic ways to the mental health education of college students in our country from the aspects of subjective cognition, curriculum content, implementing ways and the teaching staff. The author considers that, there are mainly three causes hindered the development of our mental health education: one is the lacking of subjective cognition, the second is unsound system; the third is the single education pattern. So in the future work we should conduct the reform of the current college students’ mental health education concept, improve the system of mental health education and make specific educational mode innovation.This article discusses in detail on the importance of mental health education of college students, at the same time points out the related working problems in our country, and puts forward the countermeasures. The author hopes that through the above discussion, we can promote the process of our work in college students’ psychological health education and improve the level of psychological health of college students.
