| The life-oriented English teaching has become an important concept of basic education curriculum reform. We can try to change the phenomenon that English education away from the students’ life as well as focus on students themselves and their life experiences emotion better if we infiltrate the life-oriented concept into English teaching. In current English teaching practice, life-oriented teaching has been recognized and accepted by the majority of teachers and students. In actual education teaching process, teachers are also use the life-oriented teaching methods, English activities and assignments to guide the students’ English learning. There have been some problems and shortcomings in the implementation of the life-oriented English teaching due to some teachers’ knowledge and understanding are of one-sided. At the same time, some teachers don’t pay much attention to the English in life, students in the life can’t use English effectively and flexibly. Thus, in the context of the basic education curriculum reform of primary school English teaching, life theoretical discussion and practical research are of great significance.To understand the implementation of the life-oriented English teaching in the primary school, this paper selects Zhangjiakou S Primary School in Hebei province as the survey object. Based on the current reality of primary school English teaching, the paper makes an investigation and analysis through literature research, interviews, questionnaires and case study method. Firstly, base on the theory of life education, constructive learning theory, situated cognition learning theory, second language acquisition theory and "Compulsory English Curriculum Standards(2011 version)," this paper discusses the theoretical basis of life-oriented English teaching, as well as the characteristics, the meaning and inevitability. Secondly, through investigation and analysis it find that there are the following problems and shortcomings: students’ classroom participation is not high, classroom teaching ignore the cultivation of students’ emotional attitude, teaching content and life are not closely linked, teaching methods are in the form of closing to life, teaching evaluation is lack of life features. Thirdly, The thesis makes some reason analysis from the aspects of student, teacher and school in view of the existing problems. Finally, this paper proposes some appropriate methods and strategies to improve the life-oriented English teaching by establishing a scientific life-oriented English teaching idea, exploiting the life teaching content and using reasonable teaching methods and strategies as well as adopting the life teaching evaluation according to the relevant English-language teaching and teaching cases fragments.This thesis aims to build a vital English class and promote the effective implementation of life-oriented primary English teaching under the guidance of the new curriculum ideas. Thus to realize the true meaning of English teaching. |
