A Research On The Relationships Among Cultural Distance, Acculturation Strategies And Cultural Adaptation Of The Belt And Road International Students In China

Objective:With the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "maritime Silk Road" (referred to as "The Belt and Road") put forward, The Belt and Road countries will be more closely cooperation in economy, politics and the cultural communication. As an important envoy of the national cultural communication,International students’ level of cultural adaptation have great significance for the cultural communication between countries.At present, we lack of research on the current situation of The Belt and Road overseas students cultural adaptation. And also the lack of relevant discussion of cultural adaptation,adaptation strategies and and cultural distance.The purpose of the study is based on the revised cultural distance questionnaire to describe the current situation of The Belt and Road overseas students cultural adaptation in China; to explore the factors influence of cultural adaptation; to analyzes the relationship between cultural adaptation, adaptation strategies and cultural distance.And last put forward counter measures to develop in cultural adaptation.Methods:we use data collection, interview,exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, analysis of reliability and validity to revise Culture Distances questionnaire for the International Students.we use the cultural adaptation, adaptation strategies and and revised cultural distance questionnaire,measuring 251 students from different countries of The Belt and Road. The purpose of this study is to survey the cultural adaptation situation and its influencing factors, and further explore the relationship among cultural adaptation, adaptation strategies and and revised cultural distance. The data that was collected were statistically analyzed by SPSS 17.0 and AMOS17.0.Conclusions:1.The reliability and validity of the revised Culture Distances questionnaire for International Students had met the requirements of surveying. 2. Cultural adaptation would vary significantly with the purpose of China,the Chinese language proficiency, experience and the time they stay in China.3.Cultural distance would vary significantly with the Chinese language proficiency, experience and the time they stay in China.4.Cultural distance was the positive predictor of Cultural adaptations.Selection of integration, assimilation adaptation strategies along the way foreign students acculturation level is better than isolation and marginalization of students6.Adaptation strategies plays a partly mediating role between Cultural adaptation and Cultural distance...
