With the deepening of China’s opening up and the influx of English culture, more and more students accept the culture and customs of English-speaking countries with pleasure. The phenomenon of "Chinese national cultural aphasia" happens. As an ordinary primary school English teacher, the author is trying to make up the blank of Chinese traditional culture in primary school English teaching. Based on the primary school English class, combined with the age structure, physical and mental characteristics and the hobbies of primary school students, integrated with the contents in the new version of PEP primary English textbook, by using communicative approach, cooperative learning, activity teaching method, this thesis talks about teaching the name, date, legends, folk activities, typical traditional food and poetry of traditional Chinese festival culture, such as Spring Festival, Qingming Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese Valentine’s Day, the Mid Autumn Festival and the Double Ninth festival. The primary school students can be enlightened, inspired and emotional recognized by their teachers and the traditional Chinese culture as well. Through the research and implementation of this topic, students can master the traditional festival culture and the related English expressions. They have the ability to introduce Chinese traditional festival culture in English. This paper combines literature, questionnaire survey method, experience summary method and practice teaching method and so on, the theoretical results can inspire the majority of English lovers to compile school-based curriculum. The practical results can also help the primary school English teachers expanding their teaching ideas. It helps in spreading the extensive and profound Chinese traditional culture.
