Nowadays, the women left-behind in rural areas have increasingly become the leading part of country daily life. Other than fragmentized social intercourse space in urban areas, it is vital to consider the neighborhood association as the main body of rural life. In the countryside, neighborhood is a conception with broad meaning which could refer to not only relatives based on blood or geography, but friends and schoolmates growing together as well. Moreover, it can mean the village folks with whom the family-staying women build their relationships during incidental. Their ways of living and mentalities are probably changed by social interaction status and as a result the changes are feeding back into the whole rural community. To some extent, the problems brought about by the development of rural society have been presented through women’s psychological states and mental outlook, as it were.By selecting J village in the western Liaoning province as the research site, in the means of participatory observation and case interviews, the thesis sets forth the situations how women interact with neighborhood. It is revealed that the changes of rural society structure have an impact on the construction of social networks via selected specific instances. In the aspect of time, the thesis analyzed how the communication networks are dispelled and rebuild with time from the perceptions of material production, mental health, interaction groups, and information dissemination. In the aspect of space, the organizing and institution have been put forward to analyze the changing ranges of interactions and the moving gravities of communication. It mirrors the trend that the scales of interaction groups become increasingly dissociative or integrated. The analysis found that these women’s tendency towards choosing companions changes over time. And they turn to be more active and organized than in the past. Meanwhile, with the awakening of self-consciousness, women will reconstitute their action logic to acclimatize themselves to the varying society environment.Based on the above, one can draw a conclusion that in-depth discussion on the changes of interaction pattern among the remaining wives are often contributing to the improvement in the quality of life and even the normal running of rural society. Therefore, it is remaining a significant responsibility to care for the women left in home and to promote the steady development of rural society.
