Research On Formation And Establishment Of The American Universities Social Service Function

As today’s education superpower; as world powers of higher education; as the center of the world science and technology and education, the development of American higher education theory and practice is batter than the other countries, and it has caught the attention from all over the world. American universities has started anything that is advocated earlier of the social service function, after the evolution of history, the university function has created fruitful results of the education in America today. Whether from the economic, social, cultural or political level of the American capitalism, the establishment and development of the American universities social service function has made outstanding contributions to the development of the US. The development of Chinese and American universities social service function, not only has the common but also has the different, based on the development reality of Chinese higher education, drawing on the successful experience of the USA, improving the social service function and system of Chinese Universities, promoting and harmonizing the development of the two, in order to cast the glory of Chinese higher education.This paper consists of six parts. As the first part of this dissertation, the introduction, mainly discusses that why the topic of this paper is selected and the theory we will research and what is the practical significance of this dissertation. Then we discuss concept definition and literature review of the “social service function” in this part. The main contents, methods and purpose of this dissertation were finally briefly discussed in the Introduction. The second part analyzes the social and historical background of the social service function of American University, respectively from philosophy, society, government, universities-self and other factors to the formation of the social and historical background. From third to fifth parts, we discuss the three historical development stages of the American universities social service function. The three historical development stages are creation, formation and establishment. We discuss the practice characteristics, the problems and the shortcomings of the universities social service function in each period. In the sixth part, under the influence of the American universities social service function establishment and explore its characteristics, based on development experience of the United States and the practice of Chinese higher education, we analysis in-depth the problems of implement Chinese universities social service function from the four aspects of university, society, government and enterprises. Then we put forward some practical suggestions and measures to solve the problem, in order to achieve the” University Dream” of Chinese higher education and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,” China dream”. In the final conclusion part, the paper highly summarized the problems of the American universities social service function’s formation and establishment. This paper will make our objective and correct understand that as the spiritual and cultural content of constructing the world first-class university, we must develop university social service function, and it has an important significance on the development of society and higher education.
