Mind Mapping is a visual thinking tool designed by Tony Buzan who is a British educator. It is a form of visual thinking that encourages users to map out their internal thought process. It reflects the way our brains are to think and memorize information. It is well used in the teaching of many courses in senior high school, and mind mapping is not only useful for creative processes such as brainstorming and idea generation but also can be used in many other fields.English Vocabulary Learning plays an important role in Englishlearning of senior high school students. In recent years, lots of teachers have explored many innovative teaching methods to enlarge students’ vocabulary. But the traditional methods of vocabulary teaching and learning such as teacher-centered, grammar-based and examination-oriented are inefficient.The author aims to combine the Mind Mapping and vocabulary learning to find a new method of English vocabulary learning in senior high school by designing and teaching Mind Mapping.The authorhas taken the experiment in two classes in Shenyang No. XX Senior High School. One class is experimental class which doing Vocabulary Learning in Mind Mapping. The other one is controlled class which doing Vocabulary Learning in traditional method. During half of semester’s experiment, the pre-test and post-test of EC and CCwere taken. Meanwhile, questionnaires were conducted before and after the experiment. The data obtained from the pre-test and post-test was analyzed by the author. The research findings show that the Mind Mapping has effects on the English Learning. And this approach has changed the students’ attitudes and developed their interests towards English Learning.
