A special enormous community Left-behind Children, as we often call it, can be seen in our rural areas. This group emerges amid deepening household registration reform and emergence of dual structure in urban and rural areas. Its numbers are jumping as deeper reform and opening-up and faster urbanization are on track. Since migrant workers flood into cities for jobs, thousands of children are left behind in villages. As an objective social reality, this special community has been capturing academy’s eyeballs. When enjoying fast economic growth and guided by the development principle of innovation, coordination, green, inclusiveness and sharing, we must pay more attention to it. Among the research findings of this issue, rare is about Left-behind Children’s moral emotion. Currently, with the aggregate of the special group increasing, it is of greater significance in exploring its moral emotion. If we make clear of the issue and take steps accordingly, it will benefit the children’s physical and mental health, their forming of prosocial emotion and prosocial behavior as well as the prospect of our nation. The research on the cultivation of left-behind children involves such concepts as Left-behind Children, Moral Emotion and the Cultivation of Moral Emotion. Furthermore, it is a interdisciplinary study because it relates to the relevant theories of Politics, Ethnics, Sociology and Psychology. The writer first defines the three concepts, on this basis, the writer explored the theoretical basis of this thesis, they are Emotional Moral Theory 、Care Ethics Theory and Children Psychological Development Theory. Study of related concepts and theoretical is laid the theoretical foundation for this article. The writer, by means of questionnaire, interview, literature and synthesis, surveys left-behind children in A county of Hunan province and ask local non-left-behind children, teachers and guardians of left-behind children for assistant survey.Through these efforts, the writer concludes that the children, in terms of moral emotion, are short of sense of security and trust, self-respect and self-confidence, tolerance and caring as well as sympathy and responsibility. All these moral sentiments are close to their life and indispensable to their smooth growth. The weakness in moral emotion of left-behind children is a product made by multiple factors, of which the shortcomings of dual structure of urban and rural areas serve as the fundamental one. Meanwhile, the fact of absent responsibility of parents and guardians, schools’ignorance in this respect and imperfect social caring system to the poor community must be responsible for this phenomenon. In order to cultivate left-behind children’s moral emotion effectively, we need to make reasonable analysis and find ways to help foster the moral emotion of these children. To this end, we must focus on content and capacity in the cultivation. Besides, we must work to form a three-in-one mechanism in which schools play a dominant role, with families assisting and social support participating. The writer hopes the study on this issue may help left-behind children in rural areas receive sound education in moral emotion in the coming days and promote the settlement of the problem so that the children can foster favorable moral behaviors.
