In recent years, the proportion and importance of English reading are becoming more and more prominent in English teaching. Therefore, teachers and students pay much attention to English reading strategies, skills and methods, however, the actual situation of the harvest does not achieve the desired results. One of the reasons is that many teachers adopt the traditional grammar-translation method which is regarded as the teacher-centered method. It is well-known that the traditional cramming teaching method occupies the dominant position. This kind of traditional teaching method of the “teacher-centered” and the “students-accepted”, which makes students lose interest in English reading.Finally, they only master the dumb English that lack of the communicative effect.According to the current teaching situation, it is urgent for teachers to adopt an effective English reading teaching method in order to break present condition. The author applies the interactive teaching method to the thesis and analyses the data that the author collected. Interactive teaching method advocates that the interaction carries out between students and students, between students and teacher, between students and the reading text. The application of interactive teaching method and the training of the experimental class by using the interactive teaching method, which can activate students’ prior knowledge in mind. Meanwhile, the teacher helps students to understand the reading text by using relevant knowledge and reading strategies, and then cooperate within group members or across groups.Based on related researches on interactive teaching method, this thesis intends to solve the following two questions:1.Is the interactive teaching method helpful to boost students’ English reading scores ?2.Is the interactive teaching method conductive to activate positive attitude towards English reading ?In the experiment, the author selects 62 students of Grade Two from Fuxin Senior High School as subjects. Class oneis taken as the control group which is taught by the teacher-centered traditional grammar-translation method. Class fouris regarded as the experimental group which is taught by interactive teaching method. Class one has 32 students, class four has 30 students. Data analysis is conducted by the combination of pre-test and post-test, questionnaire and interview, which are processed by SPSS17.0.After a period of time, a total of 16 weeks teaching experiment indicates that interactive teaching method has obvious effects in the following aspects: 1. The interactive teaching method is helpful to boost students’ English reading scores.2. The interactive teaching method is conductive to activate positive attitude towards English reading.The research proves that the application of interactive teaching method in English reading teaching in senior high school is feasible, which is conductive to promote the development of English teaching in senior high school. In the future, we should make great efforts to implement the interactive teaching method in English reading class.
