Reading is the most important way to acquire knowledge and information.It is an interactive process.However,in the junior high school English reading teaching,the teachers always pay much attention to explaining new words,sentence structures and grammars which breaks down the meaning of the whole passage.Students can't understand the meaning of the whole passage well.The traditional grammar translation method leads to the tedious class atmosphere where students just passively accept knowledge and they are lack of interest in learning English.This traditional reading teaching model kills the students' autonomous learning and results in students' poor reading ability.They have no interest in reading teaching.In the traditional reading teaching model,the students just get some new vocabularies,sentence patterns and grammar knowledge as well as the direct translation between English and Chinese.They can't understand the deep meaning of reading materials,also they can't communicate with others or think in English.In order to break this situation,we try to seek effective teaching model to improve the students' reading ability.Interactive teaching model is born at the right moment.It can solve the above problems to a great extent.It has a great significance to promote the development of junior high school English reading teaching.The research aims to answer three questions: Can the application of Interactive teaching model improve students' reading interest and confidence? Can the application of Interactive teaching model effectively improve students' English reading accuracy? Can the application of Interactive teaching model enhance the students' interpersonal skills?The author chose 100 students in Grade Two from two classes of Lingshou County Ciyu middle school as the research subjects.One class was the experimental class in which the author applied the Interactive Teaching Model,while the other class was the control class in which the author applied the Traditional Grammar-Translation Method.The data collected through reading test,questionnaires and interviews were analyzed by SPSS19.0.After four months' experiment,the results of the study showed that Interactive Teaching Model has obvious advantages in the following aspects: First,it helped to improve students' reading interest and confidence.Second,it helped to improve students' English reading accuracy.Third,it helped to enhance the students' interpersonal skills.The research proves that Interactive Teaching Model in English reading teaching is feasible and it has great significance in the development of English teaching in junior high school.
