Geographical map reading ability in the importance of geography curriculum obviously, popular with teachers and the students’ attention. Map is the second language of geography,the key to learn geography is whether has the strong ability of reading.For geographic map reading ability training of students research and solve the problem of related geographic has certain significance.Cultivating geographical map reading ability is to let students learn to actually get information from the map,many scholars from different angles to the geographic map reading ability cultivation are studied,but this paper from a new Angle of view to the geographic map reading ability were studied,that is, principle of gestalt psychology will be applied to the geographic map reading ability.Gestalt psychology is one of the main schools of modern psychology, originated in the research in the field of visual, then development to research in the field of perception. Its theory in aesthetics, design, art, space, and other fields have a wide range of application. Between the gestalt principles of gestalt psychology and the correlation between the symbols of the map, the law mainly includes the outline and subjective contour, target and background, proximity, similarity, simplicity principle, it emphasizes that the integrity of the perceptual experience and emphasis on the interaction between the symbols of the map,the law mainly includes the outline and the subjective contour, target and the background, proximity, similarity, simplicity principle,it emphasizes that the integrity of the perceptual experience,and attach importance to the interaction between parts and whole,so the research content of this paper is determined.This study aimed at the geographical map reading ability to provide a new method and new thinking,from the perspective of gestalt psychology to read maps,and reduce the difficulty of reading,the purpose is to improve students’ geographical map reading ability and improve geographic learning efficiency.This paper based on the concept of gestalt psychology,research object and generalization of main idea,and combined with the relevant knowledge of map symbol transmission,to explore the principle of gestalt psychology in the geographical map reading ability training in the use;to expounds the map transfer restriction factors of geographic information;to discusses the gestalt principle and the correspondence of the map symbol and the cognitive process of visual perception map. Finally, the theory of the principle of the format tower as the theoretical basis,take the real geography exercises as a case,Cited in the geographical map reading using the principle of gestalt psychology to develop geographical map reading ability of concrete instances,and the matters needing attention in the process of using,then the gestalt principle applied to teaching practice,for the effect after its application were analyzed,it is concluded that gestalt use of the advantages and disadvantages in the process of.Finally summarizes the conclusions.
