An Empirical Study Of Social Distance Between Landless Farmers And Urban Residents

This study is based on the questionnaire survey for urban residents and landless farmers of Xuxiwan village in Shaanxi Yangling district, illustrated by social regime,social economic status, spatial isolation and social network as research framework, using Bogardus’ s social distance scale to make an empirical research on social distance; From the perspective of landless farmers and urban residents we analysis that the social distance two groups produce in the process of urbanization, and then compare and analyze the cause and essence of the social distance between two groups, objectively expounds the otherness of social distance under different subjects and objects.The paper elaborates the main reason causing social distance in the perspective of landless farmer’s psychological feeling and policy regimes. The psychological feelings of landless farmers has social distance with urban residents reflects on social economic status,cultural difference and spatial separation.Due to the lack of government policy and relevant mechanism in the process of urbanization,in the construction of small cities factors such as urban-rural dual structure, defects of land property rights, compensation under eminent domain and social security system also affects landless farmers integrating into cities,further increasing social distance form urban residents.This paper summary and puts forward how to strengthen social identity and psychological integration of landless farmers, reducing the social distance, promote social integration and the construction of urban and rural integration.This artical is divided into four chapters :First chapter explains the significance and background of this study,the definition and the concept of landless farmers and social distance, the domestic and foreign research on social distance,and the research sample and research method.The second chapter is the analysis and results of social distance survey,from the perspective of landless farmers and urban residents we analysis their social distance,and the causes of social distance.The third chapter is to analyze the major factors of social distance,expounds the main factors that can deepen the social distance between landless farmers and urban residents in the process of urbanization. The fourth chapter is policy and suggestion, based on the research results of this paper,put forward suggestions that can promote the integration of land lost farmers into urban life and the reduction of the social distance.
