Investigation Of The Status Of Volleyball Sport In Junior High Schools In Suzhou Industrial Park

In this paper, it aims to present and investigate the status of volleyball sport development in junior high schools in Suzhou Industrial Park with the help of methods such as literature data method, questionnaire, field survey method, mathematical statistics and logical analysis method.The content of the investigation mainly includes: the structure of physical education teachers in junior high schools, junior high school volleyball courses,volleyball courts and equipment in junior high school, implementation of volleyball teaching activities, physical education tests in senior high school entrance examination and extracurricular sports activities in junior high schools. It is hoped to find out the influencing factors on the implementation of volleyball sports in junior high schools and to provide some theoretical suggestions for its further development. The results of the investigation are presented as follows:1. PE teachers in Suzhou Industrial Park junior high schools are generally of high-quality, most of whom are well educated and majored in physical education or in physical education training; the age structure of teachers turns out to be young and the gender proportion is reasonable; teacher-student ratio is highly above the national standard.2. The physical education and health curriculum in Suzhou Industrial Park junior high schools are in accordance with the national standard since volleyball classes are opened in all schools. Volleyball teaching syllabus have been developed and well executed in most schools; Teaching textbooks come from the national unified teaching materials thus the quality of physical education teaching is ensured; Volleyball teaching contents are comprehensive, which have emphasized on preparation posture and movement, ball digging, passing and serving while paid less attention to ball spikingand blocking.3. The number of current volleyball courts and equipment in Suzhou Industrial Park is generally desirable. Most of them are hard volleyball courts, which are able to meet the basic needs of teaching, training and competition.4. Sports courses have played an active role in promoting students’ physical fitness.The majority of students like volleyball; the major problem in the teaching of volleyball is that students lack basic volleyball skills; Most of students are satisfied with their volleyball teachers’ teaching contents.5. Students are highly selective of physical examination items in senior high school entrance examination; Although the majority of the students like volleyball, few has chosen volleyball for examination; Factors affecting students’ volleyball performance in the examination include skills, psychological quality and so on.6. The overall implementation of extracurricular sports activities in Suzhou Industrial Park is good, but there are not many students participating in volleyball activities; Students who play volleyball in the extracurricular time tend to have high motivations and clear objectives; The school volleyball teams in Suzhou Industrial Park are of high level; however, there are not many volleyball contest held in schools.
