The quality of higher education is related to the cultivation of senior talented personnel. The quality of higher education is the crucial guarantee of implementing the national developmental strategies successfully.Nowadays,improving the quality of higher education has become the top priority in China’s education field.And the engagement of graduate students can be an important criterion to judge the quality of higher education.Thus, discussing the engagement of graduate students and its influencing factors is a meaningful research both theoretically and practically in improving both the study quality of graduate students’and the cultivating quality of the whole senior talented personnel of China.The thesis is mainly based on The Survey of Graduate Engagement and Its Influencing Factors of Yunnan University and six schools (of which are half liberal art schools and half science and engineering schools) are chosen as research objects. After analyzing the data of the questionnaires combined with the result of the interviews, the basic situation of graduate engagement in YNU was described and whether the assumed four factors influence the graduate engagement and how do they work are figured out. The mainly conclusions are as follows:1.The average graduate engagement in YNU is just medium degree.2.The engagement between male graduate students and female graduate students shows no huge differences.3.The engagement degree in their first year of graduate study is the lowest.4.Graduate students from science and engineering schools have higher engagement than students from liberal art schools.5.Right inner study motives, positive attitude, good learning environment and high study satisfaction are important factors of improving the graduate engagement.According to the result, follow suggestions are put forward:1.The learning resources in colleges should be enriched and the learning environment should be improved.2.Teachers should change their teaching ways, take more time communicating with students and support them to participate in more academic research and practical activities.3.Graduate students themselves should enhance the acquaintance of their own major, cultivate their study interest as well as the responsibility of study and improve their ability of self-control.
