Picture book is a unique literature form of illustrations and words to tell the story to the children, the stories like interesting dreams and the pictures are vivid, it can enrich the children’s profound emotional experience and spiritual shock, so it is popular with children deeply. With the attention of Picture book is more and more deeply,more and more widely in all the countries in the world, in China the picture book creation and research also began to development, but the picture book is applied to the lower grades of primary school art teaching research is still very inadequate, even without any practical and theoretical results. In this paper, based-on certain elementary school fine arts teaching with picture books,I am trying to explore to fully tap the picture books and educational value of the art teaching methods, summed up some advantages and disadvantages of the picture books in the teaching of fine arts.The full text is divided into three parts, the first part is the introduction. It is mainly discussed the thesis is born in what kind of environment, what is the significance of the topic study, what some of the concepts related to is, such as what is painting a picture, what is the picture book teaching, and how the subject of research at home and abroad. The second part is more important, will made more detailed introduction of picture book, and has conducted the research to the application of picture books in the art curriculum of the elementary school lower grade "appreciation and commentary" style "," design "application" to "integrated, exploring" four fields of study, practice and exploration of the sequel to the story, tell your feelings, find interested, flying to read the wings of imagination, art, the game show, picture diary, dress up life for the elementary school fine arts teaching method, and the theoretical basis, function and significance and some matters needing attentions are described. The third part is the following thoughts of picture books in elementary school fine arts teaching, such as what is the basis of combination of picture books and art teaching in primary schools and how to choose and use the picture books, what the value and the insufficiency of picture books into elementary school fine arts curriculum which the make improvement.
