As an international language, English has kept gaining importance these years. To learn a foreign language well, it’s far from enough only to have English lessons in the classroom, parents’attention and observation to their kids’English is more vital. Through home-school cooperation(HSC), junior school students can better learn English and master basic knowledge of English as well as improve their confidence and interest in English. There are many ways that parents can use to create English atmosphere at home, for example, watching English TV programs, watching English movies, making simple dialogues with their children and reading or reciting English words together etc. The English teachers and the parents can communicate with each other in time about how the students perform in school or at home. Effective home-school cooperation and sensible school arrangement will be helpful not only to their marks but also to their ability of using English.Based on Social Capital Theory,the Overlapping Demand Theory, Contingency Theory and some other theories, the author focused on the HSC of English subject, it analyzes the current situation of English HSC for junior middle schools by adopting a research method of investigating the questionnaire. Furthermore, the paper not only points out the problems, but also makes an analysis on these problems and offers advice at last.Taking Nanjing Foreign Language School Xian Lin Campus (NFLSXC) for the sample, this paper randomly selected 30 teachers and 76 students as well as their parents to fill in the questionnaires, these questionnaires cover not only the basic information of the teachers, students and their parents, but their attitudes towards HSC and the measures they have taken.Finally we can come to a conclusion from the study result, the negative elements cannot still be ignored though the teachers,students and parents are aware of the importance of English and its HSC in most cases. These negative elements include the leaders’ intervention, teachers’one-side indoctrination, narrow cooperation between teachers and parents and so on.After carefully analyzing these problems appeared in the process of HSC, the author finds that the limitation of managers’ knowledge, uncompleted policy about HSC, teachers’ authority and family background are the main causes. At last, the author puts forward some pertinent suggestions on the cooperation of junior middle school English subjects from the national level, the school level and the family level.
