As a kind of common teaching method, role play plays an important role in English teaching. Through the analysis of the junior middle school English textbook, I find there are many content in the textbook suitable for role play. Subsequently, by communication with the junior middle school English teachers and students and a questionnaire survey, I find that although teachers and students have a high expectations of role play, but it doesn’t get a good application in junior school English class. The main cause of this reason is due to lack of situation for students in the process of input and output. On the basis of analyzing teachers’and students’questionnaire, I have made analysis of the achievements and problems of role play in junior middle school English class and put forward several suggestions for improvement and issues should be noted.This paper consists of five parts, which are listed as follows.Introduction part:First introduce the four reasons for selecting this topic; then discuss the purpose and significance of this research, and next analyze the current situation of the research at home and abroad. On the basis of previous research I summarize the shortcomings of the existing research and the characteristics and innovations of my paper. Finally, introduce ideas and research methods of this paper.Part I:Mainly introduce what is role play. Firstly, clarify the connotation, classification, characteristics of role paly. Secondly, based on defining the connotation and characteristics of role play, I clearly point out the significance of role play in junior middle school English class.Part Ⅱ:This part mainly introduce why we have to use role play in junior middle school English class. Firstly, introduce the reason why we have to use role play in junior middle school English class. Secondly, I summarized the content suitable for role play in junior school English textbooks. Finally, combined with the analysis of the first two parts, the paper puts forward the text type suitable for junior middle school students to role play.Part III:This section describes the status of role play in junior middle school English class. Through the method of questionnaire and interview, the current situation of role paly in English classroom is investigated. Secondly, on the basis of investigation, I have summarized and discovered the achievements and existing problems of role play. Finally, based on the analysis of the problems, I have to reflect on the causes of the problems in role play.Part IV:This part is how to do, that is the practice suggestions of role play in junior middle school English teaching and problems should be paid attention to. First of all, in view of the problems mentioned before, then put forward specific suggestions. Secondly, analyzes and summarizes the problems of role play in English class teaching in order to arouse the attention of teachers and students.
