A Survey Of Student Engagement And Improvement Strategies In The Network Environment

Central China Normal University launched the integration cloud learning platform (referred to as "cloud platform") in 2013, and all the courses were built into a teaching network for students to study independently. Therefore, learning under the network environment is becoming increasingly important for students. But we lack of the survey data that including both teaching quality and student engagement under the network environment. In view of these, mainly taking the NSSE (National Survey of Student Engagement) as a reference and accounting for the actual situation of cloud platform in Central China Normal University, We designed a questionnaire of student engagement under network environment. Selecting the undergraduate students of Central China Normal University in grades one to three as the research sample, We explored students engagement under network environment by the specific investigation.This paper is divided into six chapters:The first chapter, the research background of this paper and current domestic and international research status of student engagement under network environment are systematically introduced, then, the research direction of this paper is determined. Subsequently, the purpose and significance of this study, the research contents and methods, research ideas and framework are illuminated.The second chapter, the supporting theory of this research is analysed in this part, it is mainly divided into two sections:one is the deep interpretation of students engagement theory, the other is studying the Dimension of scale.The third chapter, this part is the foundation of this research, it includes questionnaire design, testing improvement and investigation. The student engagement investigation for undergraduate of Central China Normal University under network environment is proceeding by assigning paper and electronic questionnaires with stratified random sampling method.The fourth chapter, the survey data is analysed in this part, namely systemizing and analyzing the collected questionnaire, which is crucial for our research. We mainly analyse the overall situation of student engagement, the difference of various respects of student engagement among several grades and the relationship between student engagement and studying result.The fifth chapter, this part puts forward some suggestions and countermeasures for the problems in the data analysis, which is the key point of this paper. According to the results of the data analysis and the actual situation of our school, we come up with some practical countermeasures.The sixth chapter, we do a systematical summary of this study, reflect the deficiency of this research, and put forward the corresponding improvement.
