Modern prose reading, as an important part of Chinese reading teaching, can not only cultivate the students’basic reading ability, but also can improve the students’aesthetic ability, thinking ability, comprehension ability and so on. At the same time, modern prose reading teaching also plays an important role for student’s ideological level, emotion attitude, the accumulation of language, writing training and other aspects. And in all versions of the current junior middle school language teaching material, modern prose occupies a considerable proportion of these. In every calendar year examination of language testing, modern prose reading as a key topic, also have the very high score. It is no exaggeration to say, modern prose reading teaching success or not is directly related to the success of Chinese reading teaching. However, due to its characteristic, the true meaning of modern prose often hidden between the lines of the article, which makes the content of modern prose reading teaching is difficult to grasp. Since junior middle school students do not have much social experience, which makes modern prose is difficult to understand for them. These problems are restricting the modern prose reading level of junior high school.According to the above questions, this article take NO.12 junior middle school in Yanji as the research object, using questionnaires and other means to carry out research activities. Concretely analysis the problems and reasons of modern prose reading teaching in Yanji NO.12 junior middle school, and take the requirements and recommendations in the new curriculum of the reading teaching as a guide, combined with relevant theoretical knowledge to explore the modern prose reading teaching methods. This paper consists of four chapters, the first part is the introduction, introduce the research purpose and significance of this paper, the research scope and method, the main concept definition, etc. The second chapter, introduce curriculum requirements and significance of modern prose reading teaching. The third chapter, through the questionnaire to learn the current situation of modern prose reading teaching in Yanji NO.12 junior middle school, analysis of the effectiveness of the school and pointed out the problems and causes in modern prose reading teaching. The fourth chapter, put forward some corresponding suggestions.Modern prose reading teaching has great significance of cultivating students’ability, not only help to improve students’language literacy, but also to open their horizons, develop their aesthetic awareness. In this paper, through investigation and analysis of the current situation of modern prose reading teaching in Yanji NO.12 junior middle school, I will put forward some advice to improve the modern prose reading teaching. We hope these suggestions would play a reference for the improvement of modern prose reading teaching of junior high school.
