The traditional English grammar translation teachingmethod has achieved a great success in senior high school English teaching in China in the past decades. However, under the pressure of college entrance examination and the influence of traditional English teaching method, the students’ communicative skills and the ability of self-study have been ignored. Therefore, the key of cultivating the students’ communication skills and the self-studyability is to change the traditional teaching method and carry out the student-centered teaching method.The study of English interactive teaching method in senior high school aims to study how to provide more opportunities for the students to use the language in the authentic environment. That is to say, it aims to make the students combine the language knowledge that teachers imparted with the real context, and then to improve the students’ communicative skills. The main purpose of this paper is to find out an English teaching methodthat is student-centered in senior high school. This teaching method can not only improve the students’ self-inquiry learning ability, but also improve the overall quality of students. Finally, the efficient classroom is realized.Through the questionnaires, interviews for the teachers and students, and examinations,the author studied the current situation of interactive teaching method in Xinzheng NO.2 senior high school.According to the statistical data of the results,it is evident that some progress in the employment of the interactive teaching method has been made so far. For example, the students’ attitude of learning English has been changed. The ability of students’ self-study, and their confidence and interest for English learning havebeen developed. What’s more, the students’ enthusiasm of participating in the interactive activities has also been improved. Thestudents’ comprehensive abilitiesgot the overall improvement and development. Therefore, it is necessary to implement the interactive teaching method in senior high school. However,there still exist many disadvantages in the process of the implementation of interactive teaching method.The author studied and analyzed the reasons of the disadvantages and put forward some suggestions.
