With the reform of China’s new curriculum for English, the disadvantages of traditional teaching methods are increasingly transparent. As an important teaching strategy advocating a new type of class based on students, student-student interaction deserves great attention and deep consideration in the field of education. However, limited by many practical problems and factors, the research on the student-student interaction fails to be carried out both theoretically and practically.Fully aware of the significance and problems lying in the teaching practice, the author investigates the present situation in high schools and the students’interest in English. According to different types of English lessons, some effective strategies are put forward, especially various forms of student-student interaction in group cooperation. By means of survey, practice and experiment, the effects of these strategies on the students’ academic improvement, learning strategy and students’ interest and confidence are well analyzed and stated, which lays a solid foundation for the promotion in the future.The text includes five chapters. The first chapter covers the context of points of origin, research status and methods. The second chapter includes the frame of theory, related concepts and theoretical bases. The third chapter involves various strategies based on the specific contents. The fourth chapter focuses on the action research, including the application of the strategies proposed above in English teaching practice, the test of the effectiveness of these strategies by means of experiment. The last chapter draws a conclusion and reflects on the findings of the experiment, which refers to the shortages and unavoidable obstacles I used to encounter in the whole process.
