Educational research is the source of power to promote the development of education. After 1970s, the teacher is the researcher, the reflective practitioner, the reflective teaching, and the behavior research and so on, which are more and more widely in the research of education and teaching. However, the teacher can not be in accordance with the textbooks and reference books finished on the end of the course, to understand the content of teaching, have their own views. This is built on the basis of deep research. Many teachers only engage in teaching for a long time not to engage in scientific research, leading to the understanding of the content of textbooks is just stuck in the book’s surface, the lack of their own point of view. Engage in scientific research can help teachers to expand personal horizons, know the sequence of events and current situation of the development of knowledge. But the teacher in this regard is obviously insufficient, especially geography teachers. Although the geography teachers in carrying out teaching and research has made some achievements, but on the whole has not in the domain of personal has been created, teaching and research capacity problems need to be improved.This study is on the basis of previous studies, the geography teachers teaching and research ability present situation investigation, analysis of the root of the problem and its influencing factors, so as to suit the remedy to the case that the improvement suggestions and strategies, to provide theoretical reference and material for the study of geography teachers’ teaching and research capacity. Under the existing theoretical reference and guidance, through questionnaires, interviews and other forms of analysis of the status quo of Jiangsu Province, the current high school geography teachers teaching and research ability, the factors analysis of the influence of teachers’ teaching and research capacity development, thus according to the correspondence problem take effective measures be improved, cause attention of geography teachers, instruction geography teachers are teaching research ability raise, in order to enhance the cultivation of geography teachers teaching and research ability and provide a kind of available operation method and the way, promote China’s education continued to move forward.Through questionnaires and visits, a total of 281 questionnaires were issued, delete some invalid questionnaires, the valid questionnaires were recovered 227, the effective rate of the questionnaire was 80.6%.
