With the new curriculum reform from 2004, it proposed a concept about senior geography curriculum:application of information technology in geography. The integration of between information technology and geography teaching becomes an important way in improving the teaching efficiency and also guarantees the implementation of new geography curriculum. There fore, how to integrate the information technology in senior geography teaching with the guide of the new curriculum concept, which has become an important issue in senior geography teaching reform.So, the paper is based on the geographic new curriculum basic concept. Taking 100 senior geographic teachers in Huanggang as research object by questionnaire survey and literature research, it discussed the current situation of geography teaching under the information technology environment and its reasons. In addition, in this paper it showed some measures and advice to promote the process and development of senior geography new curriculum reform.Survey shows that all general senior schools in Huanggang have modern teaching equipments and the teachers also use information technology to assist geography teaching which has made some achievements. But it still exists many problems like:(1)the schools’hardware facilities don’t equip well and the software equipments are used at a low rate; (2) the resources of information geography teaching are not enough and the sharing teaching resources are limited for the teachers;(3)the basic theory of information technology and courses integration is not perfect and the teachers’consciousness of application information technology in teaching is also not high; (4) the teachers are not familiar with modern education technology and not capable of designing information teaching; (5) under the information technology environment, the geography teachers are not good at reflection and their research ability are weak;(6)the training of teachers’ modern education technical skill are not enough and the training contents don’t match with the teaching situation.Combining the conditions of Huanggang and its existing problems, in this paper it proposes following countermeasures:(1) strengthen the funding and increase the teaching equipment; (2) establish a geographic teaching resource database and construct intercollegiate course resources; (3) change the traditional teaching concept, strengthen the consciousness of using information technology to assist geographic teaching and improve the utilization of teaching equipment; (4) promote the teachers’ basic skills of modern education technology and imformatilize teaching design to improve the teaching efficiency; (5) organize the teachers training to improve their information technology literacy.
