Quality education is an important measure to implement the policy of all-round education development in China. However, the quality education has encountered many difficulties in practice. For the basic education, many factors restrict the in-depth implementation of quality education, among which no good solution to the problem of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude in large classes is a more significant one. This research, through the study of the present condition of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude in large classes of ordinary secondary schools, attempts to find problems, analyze the causes and propose the countermeasures, so as to make some contributions to the effective implementation of quality education in the basic education.Taking some teachers and students of ordinary secondary schools in Yan’an City as the respondents, this research, by means of questionnaire and interview, learns about the present condition of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude in large classes of ordinary secondary schools in Yan’an City and analyzes the existing problems, which are manifested in the following four aspects: teachers have great pressure and little enthusiasm in teaching students in accordance with their aptitude; the teaching methods are single, which cannot meet students’ personalized needs; the teaching evaluation standard is one-sided, which is not conducive to students’ personality development;students’ consciousness and ability of autonomous learning is not high and the lack of interaction between teachers and students affect the implementation of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. And then, the author, from the angle of economic inputand government management, schools and teachers, summarizes that insufficient investment, limited education resources, deficient government guidance mechanism,imperfect teacher evaluation system, unsound training system of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, one-sided outlook on students’ development and poor diversified teaching ability are all the reasons that cause these problems. Finally, based on the relevant theories and the causes of these problems, this research tentatively puts forward strategy suggestions for teaching students in accordance with their aptitude that are suitable for large classes: the government shall perfect the system, increase investments and exercise strict management; schools shall be people-oriented and exercise scientific management, and provide supports for teachers to teach students in accordance with their aptitude; teachers shall change their ideas and behavior, and strengthen the guidance on students’ autonomous learning.
