In terms of education, the famous educator Ye Shengtao simply put it as the cultivation of good learning habits. For most of the middle school English low-achievers, their failure to meet the curricular criteria is due to non-intelligent reasons(for example, the learning attitudes, habits and methods, etc.). First grade of junior high school is the transition from primary school to junior high school. Students of this period have great mouldability and expect to get a good start. If teachers can make the best use of the new situation and attach importance to developing good learning habits among low-achievers, thus they will make more progress with fewer efforts. Based on the relevant research at home and aboard, the author carries out a study on English low achievers’ learning habits with an eye on probing the differences between them and top ones. The study integrates learning journal training into English teaching and explores the effects of English learning journal training on students’ learning habits.Based on a review of literature, the three-month program was carried out in low and high achievers of 2 classes in Grade7 in a middle school in Qindu District of Xianyang City, highlighting the training of students’ habits of class preparation,note-taking and reflection. By virtue of SPSS20.0, the experiment involved detailed analysis adopting descriptive statistics, independent T-test and paired sample T-test. The results show that middle school low-achievers have distinct difference from high-achievers in learning habits in three aspects. Moreover,English learning journal training had a positive impact on improving English low-achievers’ learning habits in Junior high school. The study is concluded by instructing students to evaluate learning journals, summarizing the research findings and its enlightenment to English teaching, and analyzing the limitations and the expectation of the study.
